The Producer Price Index (PPI) measures the average change in prices received by producers and provides a more accurate measure of production costs than the WPI. The PPI series was released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) in June 2026. India has adopted the Double Deflation Method, which separately adjusts output and input prices to estimate Real Gross Value Added (GVA) more accurately.
