There are deer and peacocks in a zoo. By counting heads they are 80. The number of their legs is 200. How many peacocks are there?

Suppose the number of deer = d

And, number of peacocks = p

According to question d + p = 80 --- (i)

And, 4d + 2p = 200

or, 2d + p = 100 --- (ii)

From equations (i) and (ii)

d = 20

Therefore, number of peacocks = 80 – 20 = 60
