A shopkeeper marked up an article 40% above its cost price and gave two successive discounts of 25% and 10% respectively. If he made a loss of Rs. 352, then find the cost price of the article?

a

5600 Rs.

b

5000 Rs.

c

6400 Rs.

d

6800 Rs.

e

7200 Rs.

Answer : Option C
Explanation :

Let cost price of article = 100x Rs.

Marked price of article = 140x Rs.

Selling price of Article = 140x×75100×90100140x imes frac{{75}}{{100}} imes frac{{90}}{{100}}

=94.5x Rs.

ATQ –

100x – 94.5x = 352

5.5x = 352 ⇒ x = 64 Rs.

Cost price = 64×100=6400 ????????.
