Leaf veins conduct substances within the leaf much like the veins in our own bodies that conduct blood. They are vascular bundles of two different kinds of conducting tissue: Xylem (that conducts water from the plant’s roots to the leaf’s photosynthesizing cells) and Phloem (transports the tree’s photosynthesized food from the leaves to other parts of the plant.
