When was the first All India Postage Stamp issued ?

The first all-India stamps were issued on 1 October 1854. These stamps were placed on sale with four values: $\frac{1}{2}$ anna, 1 anna, 2 annas, and 4 annas. Featuring a youthful profile of Queen Victoria, all four values were designed and printed in Calcutta.
