The final merit list is Apprentice prepared on a 50:50 weightage of Part A of CBT-2 marks and CBAT scores. The marks of CBT-1 are not counted in the final panel.

Language Options

Question papers for CBT-1 and CBT-2 will be available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional Indian languages — Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. CBAT, however, is only in English and Hindi. Choose your medium carefully — it cannot be changed later.

How to Apply for RRB ALP Recruitment

  1. Visit the official website of any participating RRB (full list in Para 13.7 of the notification — e.g., rrbsecunderabad.gov.in, rrbchennai.gov.in, rrbmumbai.gov.in, etc.).
  2. Create an Account using your active mobile number and email ID. If you already created one for CENs in 2024/2025, use the same login.
  3. Authenticate identity using DigiLocker or Aadhaar — strongly recommended for smoother verification.
  4. Live photo capture is mandatory during the application — no pre-uploaded photos allowed. Wear dark, non-white clothing, look straight at the camera, no cap/mask/glasses.
  5. Upload your signature in running handwriting (not block letters, not capital, not disjointed) — JPG/JPEG, 30–49 KB, on white paper with black ink.
  6. Fill the self-screening medical declaration honestly.
  7. Choose your RRB and zone preferences carefully — these cannot be changed later.
  8. Pay the fee online.

Critical Warnings — Don't Ignore These

  • One application per candidate. Multiple applications — whether to the same RRB or different ones — will lead to rejection of all applications and a lifetime debarment from all future RRB and RRC exams.
  • Details in "Create an Account" form (including mobile and email) and Chosen RRB cannot be modified at any stage. Be extra careful while filling these.
  • Modification window (17 June – 26 June 2026): Other fields can be corrected by paying ₹250 per modification. After this, JRF no changes will be entertained.
  • No LASIK declaration is non-negotiable. Hiding a refractive surgery will lead to disqualification and possible legal action.
  • Banned items at exam centres: No mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, pens, water bottles, food, or wallets. Even henna on hands/feet can interfere with biometrics — avoid it.
  • The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 is in force. Impersonation, cheating, or using any unfair means will result in lifetime debarment and criminal prosecution.

Posting and Service Conditions

A newly appointed ALP will ordinarily serve in the zonal railway of first posting. No request for inter-railway transfer will be entertained for at least 5 to 10 years of service. Selected candidates may also be required to undergo training (with stipend), execute a Security/Indemnity Bond, and are liable for active service in the Railway Engineers' Unit of the Territorial Army.

So, choose your RRB and zone preferences with serious thought — this is where you'll likely build your career.

  • Read the official CEN carefully before filling anything. The notification is 37 pages for a reason — every paragraph protects your candidature.
  • Apply early. Don't wait for 14 June. Server load on the last day can be brutal.
  • Bookmark only the official RRB websites. Fake websites and touts thrive during recruitment seasons. RRBs never appoint agents or coaching tie-ups.
  • Keep your mobile number and email active throughout the recruitment cycle. All communications happen via SMS and email.
  • Prepare seriously for CBT-1. Even though its marks don't count in the final panel, only the top 15× the vacancies per RRB make it to CBT-2.
  • Don't neglect Part B of CBT-2. It's qualifying, but a fail here disqualifies you regardless of how well you did in Part A.

In Closing

RRB ALP 2026 is a once-in-a-cycle opportunity for thousands of ITI holders and diploma engineers across India to step into a respected, secure, and well-compensated railway career. With 11,127 vacancies on offer, fair competition through a transparent CBT-based process, and reservation benefits as per Government of India norms, the field is wide open — but only for those who prepare seriously and apply carefully.

Read the notification end-to-end, gather your documents now, and start preparing. The wheels of Indian Railways are waiting for their next generation of Loco Pilots.
