Every year, various Central Government Ministries, Departments, and Organisations report isolated vacancies (posts that are too few to justify a standalone exam) to the Staff Selection Commission. SSC clubs all such vacancies together and conducts a single recruitment drive called "Selection Posts" examination. Phase-XIV is the fourteenth edition of this recruitment cycle, covering the year 2026.

This year's drive is particularly large with 3,003 vacancies across 382 post categories, making it one of the biggest SSC recruitments announced this year. Posts range from entry-level Multi-Tasking Staff and Medical Attendants to mid-level Surveyors, Junior Engineers, Nursing Officers, and Scientific Assistants.

Indian citizens are eligible. Additionally, subjects of Nepal/Bhutan, Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before 1 January 1962, and persons of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and select East African and South-East Asian countries with the intention of permanent settlement may also apply if they hold a Government of India eligibility certificate.

📝 Exam Pattern — What to Expect in the CBE

All three levels (10th, 12th, Graduation) follow an identical exam structure. The only difference is the difficulty level and syllabus depth.

Language: Hindi and English only. You must choose your medium during application — it cannot be changed later.

Sectional Timer: Each section has a fixed 15-minute timer. You cannot switch between sections.

Normalization: If the exam runs across multiple shifts, marks are normalized using SSC's published formula.

Correction Window (11–13 May): After Assistant Administrative Officer the deadline, SSC gives 3 days to fix mistakes. You get 2 attempts — first correction costs ₹200, second costs ₹500. Only the latest application is considered valid.

Tie-Breaking Order: Total Normalized Marks → Part A → Part B → Part C → Older candidate first → Alphabetical name order.

🗺️ SSC Regional Offices & Coverage

The exam is conducted across centres under 9 Regional Offices. You can choose up to 3 centre preferences while applying. Once selected in your first application, centre preference gets locked for all subsequent applications in this recruitment.

⚠️ Important Points Every Candidate Must Know

🔹 Name & Date of Birth must match your Matriculation certificate exactly. Any mismatch = rejection at exam centre or DV stage.

🔹 OBC candidates must not belong to the creamy layer as on 04 May 2026. The OBC certificate need not be dated before this date, but the candidate must genuinely qualify on the crucial date.

🔹 EWS candidates need an Income & Asset Certificate valid for FY 2026–27, issued based on income for FY 2025–26.

🔹 All posts carry All India Service Liability (AISL). You may be posted anywhere in India and may need to learn the local language for confirmation.

🔹 Apply separately for each post. If you want multiple posts, submit separate applications with separate fees. Applying more than once for the same post = cancellation.

🔹 Scribe facility available for eligible PwBD candidates. Own scribes must register on SSC's website with OTR + Aadhaar authentication. Scribe qualification must be one step below the candidate's. Compensatory time: 20 minutes per hour of exam.
